A Color a Day: White

June 15, 2008

White, mmm. The first thing I think of when I think of the color white is a wedding. More specifically the wedding dress, but still a wedding. I love to dream about my wedding day and how my dress, hair and the cake will look. I think it will be pretty hard for me to decide on my dress when the day is near…lace, bows, ruffles, long or short…

What’s your ideal wedding dress, or if you’re already married, the dress you married in?

I love this editorial! The random flowers thrown in are a tad messy, but at least they look nice. I must have all the clothing & accessories, especially the hats she’s wearing. They look like they’re supposed to be flower petals–genius! I want one in every color under the sun..if only it was possible. Petal hats – yes or no?

P.S. – If anyone knows the models name, please tell me! Thanks.

A Color a Day: Black

June 14, 2008

So, I’ve decided to do a Polyvore everyday of clothing & accessories–all in one color. Today’s color–the first one–is black. Black is a great color. It goes with everything and slims the body. I think the Parisians look excellent in black. It’s such a basic color, but they really make it work.

Even the old women in the last picture look lovely, with the all-black ensemble and long, wavy hair.

Anyways, I would love to get my hands on the 2.55, the Yves Saint Laurent clutch and the Louboutin flats. So pretty, and so out of reach (at the moment, at least). What’s your favorite black item (that you own or in the Polyvore–or both)?

Maloles

June 10, 2008

I have three words: Best shoes ever. I’ve only discovered this shoe line today, but I’ve already fallen in love. Maloles shoes are pretty much my style–lots of bows & florals, with patent added to the mix. The S/S 2008 collection reminds me of Paris quite a bit, with Chanel-esque footwear and, like I said before, lots of bows! It’s very chic, no? Check them out: Maloles

I’ve been saving for a 2.55 (which I’ll probably never get in my teens), but now I’m contemplating whether or not to spend some on a pair of Maloles shoes. They’re so beautiful!

P.S. – Sorry for not posting for a while! I’ll try to post more often–I’m working on another post right now.

Stella McCartney Resort

June 5, 2008

Stella definitely didn’t disappoint like some other designers did. I’m looking at you, Marc Jacobs. I love everything. The use of what I like to call the ‘M.C. Hammer’ pants, the subtle bows, menswear touches (blazers & vests, yes!) and the background in all of the pictures-Jefferson Market Garden in New York City. The greenery is so refreshing.

I also adore the shoes in the second image. My mother wouldn’t allow me to wear heels..”You’re defying me, Alexandra!”, but I can dream. The pattern in the first image is also pretty awesome as well; I just wish I knew what it was. Sailboats? Birds? Floating bits of paper? Enlighten me if you know!

What’s your favorite Resort collection so far?

Photographers & model: Sofia Sanchez and Mauro Mongiello & Coco Rocha

I think this is such an inspiration for summer! Coco Rocha is so talented; she makes a bathtub look incredibly glamorous. I love all the rich, saturated colors and the flower petals. Which shot(s) are your favorite? I love the first, and the fourth, and the sixth–especially the sixth.

P.S. – If this editorial looks familiar, it’s because you can see it above in my header.

A Dainty Affair

June 4, 2008

I suppose this is an introduction, the second one for me. I’ve switched from Blogger to WordPress, and changed names as well. Violet is Violent is now A Dainty Affair. Yes, I have a thing for three word names with the first and last words starting with the same initial if you haven’t noticed. I’m not going to post my old posts over here, just starting fresh. A little about your lovely blogger:

  • My name is Alexandra.
  • I’m 13, I know, young, but I’d like to think I’m mature for my age!
  • This blog will be about music, fashion, beauty and life in general.
  • I love orange juice and açaí–especially orange juice.
  • I love doilies & matryoshka dolls. Don’t ask why, because I’m really not too sure myself. I just like them.
..Just some random facts for you to know!
